Double-Blind Review

SUSTINERE: Journal of Environment and Sustainability applies a double-blind review process for all submitted manuscripts, except editorials. This means that both authors’ and reviewers’ identities are kept confidential. Reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal, and their voluntary contributions are highly appreciated.

Submission of Reviews

Reviews can be submitted through the journal’s online system or using the provided review form. Reviewers should return their reports within the specified deadline or notify the editor immediately if they are unable to do so, allowing time to find alternative reviewers.

General Responsibilities

All manuscripts, except editorials, are reviewed by at least two experts. Reviewers are asked to provide a recommendation on whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected. While the journal performs plagiarism checks, reviewers should alert the editor if they suspect any ethical concerns or misconduct, such as plagiarism, duplicate publication, or data manipulation.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to the manuscript or the authors, including personal, professional, or financial relationships. If a conflict exists, the reviewer should decline the assignment.

Detailed Review

Reviewers are expected to provide thorough, objective, and constructive feedback that helps editors make informed publication decisions and assists authors in improving their work. Reviews should focus on the manuscript’s content rather than the authors personally. Reviewers should consider the following points:

Originality and Significance: Evaluate whether the manuscript presents new and meaningful contributions to the field. Reference relevant prior work if similar studies exist.

Approach and Methods: Assess the appropriateness and novelty of experimental or theoretical methods. Comment on the clarity and rigor of analyses.

Results and Conclusions: Evaluate whether the results are reliable and the conclusions are supported by the data.

Organization and Clarity: Consider the manuscript’s structure, readability, and logical flow. Suggest improvements where needed.

Literature Coverage: Ensure the cited references are relevant and comprehensive. Point out missing key studies when necessary.

Revisions: If revision is recommended, suggest areas for improvement, such as additional data, stronger justification, or clearer presentation.

Citations: Suggest additional references only when they clearly improve the scientific quality of the manuscript. Requests to cite one’s own work or colleagues’ work must be justified and relevant. Editors may disregard inappropriate or self-serving suggestions.

Confidentially

All manuscripts must be treated as strictly confidential. Reviewers must not share, discuss, or use the content for personal advantage or outside the review process. Consultation with colleagues is allowed only to obtain specialized advice and should be done discreetly.

Promptness

Reviewers should complete their evaluations within the requested timeframe. If they feel unqualified or cannot finish the review on time, they must notify the editor immediately.

Language Considerations

Minor issues with grammar, style, or punctuation should not be grounds for rejection if the manuscript is understandable and scientifically sound. Accepted manuscripts may be professionally edited for language before publication.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should highlight relevant work that has not been cited and report any substantial overlap with published studies. This ensures proper attribution and upholds academic integrity.

Objectivity

Reviews must be fair, unbiased, and focused on scientific content. Comments should be constructive and aimed at improving the manuscript.
