Sustinere publishes scientific articles on analysis, methodologies, case studies, reviews, and viewpoints of issues on Environment and Sustainability. The following sections and subject fields are included: Environmental sciences; environmental studies; environmental engineering; sustainable infrastructure; ecological engineering and sustainable farming; climate change; Sustainable development/Agenda 21/SDGs; sustainable and renewable energy; sustainable product, production, and consumption; Environmental data and information management system.

Environmental sciences
This section publishes studies on physical, biological and information sciences (including ecology, biology, microbiology, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, zoology, mineralogy, oceanology, limnology, soil science, geology, atmospheric science, and geodesy) and/or their integration to examine environmental problems and the solutions.

Environmental studies
This section covers systemic studies on human interaction with the environment in the interests of solving complex problems. The discussions include a combination of principles of sciences, commerce/economics, and social sciences — such as ethics, policy, politics, law, environmental sociology, environmental justice, etc. — to solve contemporary environmental problems. This broad field of studies covers natural environment, built environment, and the sets of relationships between them.

Environmental engineering
Manuscripts publish in this section presents the application of scientific and engineering principles for the protection of human populations and environments from adverse natural and human activities as well as for the improvement of environmental quality. This section also addresses the issues of energy preservation, production asset and control of waste from human and animal activities besides finding feasible solutions of the problems. This includes but not limited to fields as follow: sanitation in the rural, urban and recreational area; water and wastewater treatment; wastewater and water resource management; air pollution control; solid waste treatment and management; hazardous waste treatment and management; industrial hygiene; public health; and environmental impact assessment of activities.

Sustainable infrastructure
In sustainable infrastructure section, research and studies related to designing, building, and operating infrastructure in a sustainable manner — with regards to social, economic, and ecological process — are welcome. It concerns with fundamental infrastructure areas crucial to sustainable development such as energy, transportation, waste management, land use planning and governance.

Ecological engineering and sustainable farming
This section includes research on or related to ecological engineering especially on its application for the management of agricultural systems that are more adapted to the dynamic of social and environmental necessities. Any studies related to enhancing environmental quality and the natural resources to sustain the economic viability of farm operation; making the most efficient use of non-renewable and on-farm resources; and integrating natural biological cycle in farming processes are welcome.

Climate change
This section specifically covers research and discussion on issues dealing with the phenomena of climate change: the evidence, impacts, and its plausible mitigation. The studies can be socially or technically approached. Studies on improving society's resilience facing the effects of climate change are encouraged.

Sustainable development/Agenda 21/SDGs
Sustainable development section provides a forum to disseminate studies that offer a unique approach to development that meets the current needs without compromising the ability of future generation to fulfill their own, by considering environmental, social, cultural and economic dimension. Policy review and viewpoints, as well as implementation evaluation on Agenda 21, Sustainable Development Goals and their associated targets, are encouraged. Research on intersectoral linkage programs to meet SGDs will be a valuable addition to this broad discussion.

Sustainable and renewable energy
This section consists of research papers presenting current advances in the field of sustainable and renewable energy from various perspectives and area such as: Alternate energy technology and sources (bioenergy, geothermal, hydrogen, hydropower, ocean, solar, wind, etc.); sustainable and renewable energy application (in buildings, industries, transports, etc.); policy related to sustainable and renewable energy usage (economic aspects, emission and environmental impact, political aspects, energy planning, social aspects etc.) as well as the trends — past, present, and future — of sustainable and renewable energy production and consumption.

Sustainable product, production, and consumption
Sustainable consumption and production are one of the important aspects and essential requirements for sustainable development. Any studies on or related to production and use of products and services in a manner that is socially, economically and environmentally feasible over their whole life cycle are welcome in this section. It contains research on sustainable and green products, its production and consumption. It also includes the environmental impact of the design, process, product and services resulted by industrial processes. A further look into product labeling is a great addition.

Environmental data and information management system
This section presents one of the most important aspects of environment and sustainable development. The shortcomings of available data have been the culprit of the delays and failures of environmental developments. The progress of any project must be able to be monitored to ensure their attainment. Therefore Sustinere specifically designed this section for researchers and practitioners who dedicate their study to offering better environmental data and information management system.
